Lobuche Peak Climbing is an exciting Himalayan adventure that combines the classic Everest Base Camp trekking route with a challenging climb to Lobuche East Peak at 6,119 meters. The journey takes you through the beautiful Khumbu Valley, traditional Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries, high mountain landscapes and glacial terrain.
The adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla, you trek through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche and Lobuche before reaching Everest Base Camp. Along the route, you experience the unique Sherpa culture and enjoy spectacular views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumori and other Himalayan peaks.
Proper acclimatization is an important part of the climb. You spend an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar and another in Dingboche before moving toward higher elevations. At Lobuche Base Camp, your climbing guide provides practical training on crampons, ice axe, harness, ropes and other climbing equipment to prepare you for the summit attempt.
The summit day is the main highlight of the adventure. You start early in the morning and climb through rocky and snowy terrain toward Lobuche East Summit. From the top, you can enjoy breathtaking views across the Everest region. After the summit, you descend carefully to a lower camp and continue back through the Khumbu Valley.
Lobuche Peak Climbing is physically demanding because of the high altitude, cold temperatures, steep sections, glacier terrain and long summit day. Good physical fitness, proper acclimatization and professional climbing support are essential. The best seasons are generally spring and autumn, when the weather and mountain visibility are usually favorable.
Lobuche East is a challenging high-altitude climbing adventure. The main difficulties include high altitude, steep sections, cold temperatures, glacier terrain and a long summit day. Previous trekking or climbing experience is helpful, but proper preparation and professional guidance are essential.

Spring offers good trekking conditions, clear mountain views and pleasant temperatures compared with winter.
Autumn โ September to November
Autumn is one of the best seasons for Lobuche Peak Climbing. The weather is generally stable, skies are clearer and mountain visibility is excellent.
Winter โ December to February
Winter brings very cold temperatures, snow and difficult mountain conditions. Proper winter mountaineering preparation is required.
Monsoon โ June to August
Monsoon brings rain to lower elevations and can affect trails and flights. It is generally not the preferred season for Lobuche Peak Climbing.
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our representative welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel. Take some time to rest after your journey. Later, meet your trekking and climbing guide and receive a briefing about the Lobuche Peak climbing program.
Explore some of Kathmandu’s cultural and historical attractions. Later, prepare your trekking and climbing equipment with your guide. Your guide checks the necessary equipment and explains the route, safety procedures and climbing plan.
Take an early morning flight to Lukla. After meeting the trekking crew, begin walking toward Phakding. The trail passes through small villages, forests and suspension bridges along the Dudh Koshi River. Reach Phakding and spend the night.
Continue trekking along the Dudh Koshi Valley. Cross several suspension bridges and enter Sagarmatha National Park. The trail gradually climbs toward Namche Bazaar. After the final uphill section, reach the famous Sherpa town and rest.
Spend the day acclimatizing to the increasing altitude. Take a short hike around Namche Bazaar and nearby viewpoints. Enjoy views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and other peaks. You can also explore the local market and Sherpa culture.
Continue along a scenic trail overlooking the Himalayan mountains. The route passes through forests and small settlements before reaching Tengboche. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery and enjoy views of Ama Dablam and surrounding peaks.
Descend through forests and cross the Imja Khola before climbing toward Dingboche. The vegetation becomes thinner as you gain altitude. Dingboche is a beautiful mountain settlement surrounded by impressive peaks.
Take another important acclimatization day. Hike toward a nearby viewpoint or higher ridge to help your body adjust to the altitude. Enjoy panoramic views of Island Peak, Ama Dablam, Lhotse and other peaks before returning to Dingboche.
Continue toward the higher Khumbu region. The trail passes through rugged terrain and gradually climbs toward the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Pass memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives in the Himalayas before reaching Lobuche.
Trek toward Gorak Shep and continue to Everest Base Camp. Walk across rocky glacial terrain and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Spend time at Everest Base Camp before returning to Gorak Shep for the night.
Start early for the hike to Kala Patthar, one of the best viewpoints in the Everest region. Enjoy sunrise views over Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori and other peaks. Descend toward Gorak Shep, continue to Lobuche and prepare for the climbing section.
Begin the climb toward Lobuche High Camp. The trail becomes steeper and more technical as you move into the climbing terrain. Your climbing guide provides final training and checks your equipment. Prepare for the early morning summit attempt and rest at High Camp.
Start the summit climb before sunrise. Follow the rocky and snowy route with your climbing guide. Use crampons, ropes and other climbing equipment where required. Reach the summit of Lobuche East and enjoy spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumori and other Himalayan peaks.
After spending some time at the summit, begin the careful descent toward Lobuche Base Camp.
Keep this day as a contingency day for unfavorable weather, strong winds, poor visibility or other unexpected climbing conditions. If the summit is completed successfully on Day 13, use this day as an additional rest or recovery day.
Begin the descent through the Khumbu Valley. Walk past familiar mountain landscapes and traditional villages. Continue toward Pangboche, one of the oldest settlements in the region, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Continue downhill through forests and along the Dudh Koshi Valley. Pass through Tengboche and continue toward Namche Bazaar. Enjoy a comfortable evening in the lively Sherpa town.
Begin the final trekking day. Follow the Dudh Koshi River and cross several suspension bridges before reaching Lukla. Celebrate the completion of your trekking and climbing adventure with your team.
Take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, subject to weather and flight conditions. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to the airport for your onward journey or extend your stay in Kathmandu.
Here is a list of what you might want to pack for the hike. Please take this as a starting point. Youโll need layers of warmer clothing during the winter. We provide a 75 liter duffel bag for you to use for the trek. It will be given to you during your pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu. The duffle bag is yours to keep. Also, you can rent sleeping bag and down jacket with us at the additional fee of USD 35 for each once you are in Kathmandu.
Lobuche Peak Climbing is a challenging adventure that requires good physical fitness, stamina, and basic mountaineering skills. Previous high-altitude trekking experience is highly recommended.

Previous climbing experience is helpful but not always required. You should be comfortable walking on steep and rocky terrain and be ready to learn basic climbing techniques from your guide.

A typical Lobuche Peak Climbing itinerary takes around 18โ20 days, including the trek from Lukla, acclimatization days, summit attempt, and return to Kathmandu.
