The Langtang Valley Trek – 10 Days is one of Nepal’s most rewarding Himalayan adventures, offering a perfect blend of breathtaking mountain scenery, rich Tamang culture, and peaceful trekking trails. Located north of Kathmandu, the Langtang region is known for its beautiful forests, alpine meadows, glaciers, and traditional villages. This trek is ideal for travelers looking for an unforgettable Himalayan experience without venturing into extremely high altitudes.
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang National Park. The trail passes through lush rhododendron and bamboo forests, crosses suspension bridges, and follows the Langtang River before reaching charming villages such as Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, and Kyanjin Gompa. Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, and other snow-capped Himalayan peaks while experiencing the warm hospitality of the local Tamang people.
The highlight of the trek is a hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m) or Tserko Ri (4,984 m), where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of glaciers, towering mountains, and the entire Langtang Valley. The trek also offers opportunities to visit ancient monasteries, yak cheese factories, and pristine alpine landscapes.

Your adventure with Tamang Eco Treks begins with an early morning drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley. The scenic journey follows winding mountain roads, passing through green hills, terraced farms, rivers, and traditional villages. Along the way, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the Trishuli River and the surrounding countryside. After arriving in Syabrubesi, you can relax, prepare for the trek, and meet fellow trekkers while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of this mountain village.
After breakfast, the trek begins by crossing the Bhote Koshi River and entering the beautiful Langtang National Park. The trail gradually climbs through dense forests of oak, bamboo, rhododendron, and pine while following the Langtang River. You may spot wildlife such as red pandas, Himalayan monkeys, and colorful birds if you’re lucky. Crossing several suspension bridges and enjoying the peaceful sounds of waterfalls, you’ll reach Lama Hotel, a small settlement surrounded by forests.
Today’s trail continues through forests before opening into wide valleys with spectacular mountain views. As you gain altitude, you’ll see the impressive Langtang Lirung towering above the valley. Passing traditional Tamang settlements, prayer flags, mani walls, and ancient monasteries, you’ll learn about the local culture and lifestyle. The day ends at Langtang Village, which was beautifully rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake and remains an important cultural center of the region.
The trail becomes more open as you walk through yak pastures and alpine landscapes surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. You’ll cross small streams and enjoy breathtaking views before arriving at the peaceful village of Kyanjin Gompa. Visit the famous Buddhist monastery and the local yak cheese factory, where traditional cheese has been produced for decades. The peaceful surroundings and mountain scenery make this one of the most beautiful places in the Langtang region.
Today is reserved for acclimatization, helping your body adjust to the higher altitude while enjoying one of the most rewarding hikes of the trek. You can climb either Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri, both offering breathtaking panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, Yala Peak, glaciers, and the surrounding Himalayan ranges. After spending time at the viewpoint, descend back to Kyanjin Gompa for a relaxing evening.
After breakfast, begin your descent along the same scenic trail. Walking downhill through alpine meadows, forests, and traditional villages provides a completely different perspective of the valley. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and beautiful landscapes as you return to Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.
Continue descending through dense forests filled with rhododendron, bamboo, and pine trees while crossing suspension bridges over the Langtang River. The peaceful trail allows plenty of opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of Langtang National Park before reaching Syabrubesi, where you can celebrate the successful completion of the trekking portion of your adventure.
Leave the mountains behind and enjoy another scenic drive back to Kathmandu. The journey follows winding roads alongside the Trishuli River, offering beautiful views of hills, rivers, and rural villages. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend the evening relaxing, shopping, or exploring the city’s cultural attractions.
Enjoy a full day at your leisure in Kathmandu. You can visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites, shop for souvenirs, explore local markets, or simply relax at your hotel. This day also serves as a buffer in case of unexpected road delays. In the evening, Tamang Eco Treks hosts a farewell dinner to celebrate your successful Langtang adventure.
After breakfast, a representative from Tamang Eco Treks will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport according to your flight schedule. Depart Nepal with unforgettable memories of the Langtang Valley, its stunning Himalayan scenery, and the warm hospitality of the Tamang people.
